DESPISED MASSES DEATHCORE TRAP METAL

DEATHCORE TRAP METAL WITH DESPISED MASSES

Hi Cody, can you introduce yourself to our readers ?

Hello this is Cody of Despised Masses, I also go by my stage/producer name Cid DoDie but it hasn’t caught on just yet haha.

Your music i discovered on Soundcloud is truly fascinating. It's kind of mix of Trap Metal, Deathcore with experimental touches. Do you agree ?

Yes I’d would say that is a good sum of what I’m doing. The mix of screaming with bass heavy patterns and breakdowns with random touches from different genres helps give the music a fresh taste.

DEATHCORE MEETS TRAP METAL IN CHAOS

Do you think Trap Metal is going to be a big thing ?

I honestly can see it getting huge. I haven’t been following it as long as a lot of people. But l, I have seen a lot of artists I’m starting to get to know get a lot more recognition then they were years ago when things were just starting in the scene. I feel it will have a huge impact on rap and even spill over and influence more metal bands as well.

Can you tell us about your influences, both musical and from other stuffs ?

My experimentalness comes from my love of weird bands and not much hip hop actually other than a few bigger name artists. Non musically I’ve been working on music for a long time, it’s something that’s always helped me keep my mind on track and head in the clouds. My lyrics just come from anything like a movie/show, someone I may live or hate or shit that I find funny or ironic. My lyrics are not a direct reflection of me as a person more so of my thoughts.

BRUTAL DEATH METAL MEETS HIP HOP HOOKS

For you, who is the greatest artist on that scene ?

Right now out of everyone I’m following Ghostemane is still my number one when it comes to leading trapmetal even if that seems a bit corny haha. But then there’s Sinizter & Istasha The Scrub (huge fans of both) are makin their rise.

Here in France, most people like Hip Hop OR Exteme Metal, rarely both. Is it the same elsewhere ?

I find it’s really hit or miss. I have found around where I am people are more interested in new wave rap & old school style. Then you go an hour or two away and there’s all these great under appreciated artists that I feel should get more of a following than what they have. You can hear the influence of them being around metal for so long. In my song Turmoil NINJAxKENJI used to be a lead vocalist for a deathcore band years ago before he made the switch to rap. Everyone feels the influence in some way!

Do you think your music is the future of extreme ?

I wouldn’t say the future, more so a stepping stone. I've still yet to refine my sound and have what I fully want. But I do feel that when I have found what I’m looking for it’ll be right in line with the future of trap metal. I know I’ve gotten a fair bit of people who don’t like rap or metal to give me a listen and now they’re fans so whose to say.

TRAP METAL IS THE FUTURE OF HEAVY MUSIC

Further projects for Despised Masses ? Do you think you will release a cd or a tape or do you want to « keep it digital » ?

Well marking 4/20 (today) I’m dropping an ep that will remain digital as I want to see the response it gets first. The next ep I make will be made into physical copies as well as an eventually remixed and remaster first album will be released too. I plan to one day even start pressing vinyls if demand comes or even for myself to add to my collection. Haha

Blank Space : fill it with whatever you want !

Just a few announcements/updated on what’s coming from me in the near future. 4/20 marks the release of the UNlikE MX E.P (10 track tape), I will be doing a split single release in the next month. My next album “$.£.€.¥.” Will be released before the end of the year. Also in the works to do a brutal Trap Metal album with L.I.E (he featured me on his track Discarded Corpse). Also hoping to start filming some music videos and playing some shows around Ontario. Big things are comin, I won’t be done anytime soon!
