FATHERS OF GRIND ! INTERVIEW WITH NAPALM DEATH (Mark "Barney" Greenway)

Image
What can i say ? Napalm IS GRINDCORE ! Period ! Ask anyone involved in Grind and you will have the same answer. This interview will be also published in my forthcoming book about Grindcore : "Scum : Une Histoire du Grindcore" at Camion Blanc publishing. Let's enjoy this great moment with Mark "Barney" Greenway, singer of the crew, and appreciate his views about Napalm in paritcular and Grindcore in general ! Thanks to him !

All answers: Mark ‘Barney’ Greenway

Napalm Death. This name is like thunder in the sky. When I was a teenager and discovered you I was really scared (late 80’s). Was it one of your goals, to be scary ?
Interesting question. I think subliminally, yes, to scare and shock – but with the motive of exposing injustice and inequality in the world. So not in the traditional sense of pure escapism of something like that. I suppose a good example is the cover of the ‘Scum’ album. I suppose it’s sort of scary looking – and very monotone and bleak – but of…

ATTENTION ! NOISEGRIND ! SONS DANGEREUX ! LES CROCS DU SCRIBE HS SPECIAL SICK PHOQUE RECORDS

Image
Attention !

WARNING !! EXTREME ! SICK ! TWISTED ! INTERVIEW WITH LAST DAYS OF HUMANITY (ULTRA BRUTAL PORNGOREGRIND)

Image
LAST DAYS OF HUMANITY IS THE EXTREMIEST BAND EVER
Last Days of Humanity is the most extreme band ever ! They did a kind of Goregrind splitted with Noise and extreme speed that no one can beat. The good news is that the guys are back ! The bad news ? Your ears will bleed ! Interview with the band ! (the interview was realised in October 2018)

Last days of Humanity was created in 1989 in the city of Volkel, Nederlands by you and Erwin de Wit. The band had a lot of lineup changes after that, but you will be the pillar of the band. Into your first demo, in 1992, after the intro (dead can dance), I think your music was kind of influenced by extreme noisegrind acts such as Anal Cunt, do you agree ? And can you tell us more about your formation ? The bands you were listening to ?

At that time we were listening to all kinds of extreme music, from 7 minutes of nausea, Agathocles, Fear of God to Morbid Angel, Dark angel, Slayer, Sodom, Kreator. As you see from noise, grindcore to Death and thrashm…

GRINDCORE FROM NETHERLANDS : 25 YEARS OF INHUME IN INTERVIEW ! (ENGLISH AND FRANÇAIS)

Image
Hi Inhume! You are celebrating your 25 years of existence with a beautiful digipack released at Xenokorp records. Can you remind us the origins of the band, your influences back then, and what did you want to do with Inhume?

Hello all, first of all thanks for the kind words and what can i tell you, Inhume set out to be the most brutal band ever! We all came from other bands in different styles of metal but with the same interest to start this new band. At that time we were heavily influenced by bands like Terrorizer, Napalm Death, Carcass, Brutal Truth etc. but i think we found our own style right away. The initial try out consisted of 9 people but it immediately setled at 5 and when recording the first demo back in ’95 i joined. I had been in a band with drummer Roel in the previous 4 or 5 years so we already knew each other quite well.

Your genre of music is often classified as “Brutal Death Metal/Grindcore” what do you think about this appellation and does it fit you? What is the par…
