Le Scribe Du Rock et The Ritual Productions c'est déjà une histoire ancienne. Alors que je pourrai annoncer les cinq ans de mon blog au mois d'Octobre prochain (à moins que quelque apocalypse d'ici là ne déjoue mes plans) cette histoire est liée avec le label néerlandais de Jasper Ruijtenbeek, qui a été le premier avec lequel j'ai collaboré en 2017. Jasper est un homme de parole, et j'essaie d'en être un également. Voilà pourquoi cette collaboration se poursuit depuis bientôt cinq ans. En cette année sinistre (la troisième consécutive) il est rassurant de se dire que certaines personnes sont fiables, et ne croient pas les fariboles sur Internet d'individus qui ne font rien de leur peau. Alors que se pose pour moi la continuation du Scribe en 2023 (je vous tiendrai au courant de ma décision) étant donné le travail que représente ce blog pour ma petite personne en plus de mon travail alimentaire, je pourrai dire, quoi qu'il en soit, que The Ritual Productions est un label de qualité, tenu par un homme de qualité, digne d'amitié et de confiance. En cette ère où se révèlent le vrai visage des hypocrites qui nous entourent, où les crises révèlent les fractures irrémédiables qui séparent les humains, je porte fièrement le drapeau du partenariat avec The Ritual Productions. Cette fois, pour la 6ème fois, retrouvons deux nouveaux disques signés du sigle sadien du label hollandais : Solemne Mortis avec "Perpetual Nonexistence" et Malauriu avec la compilation "N.E.M.A"...Alors bonne lecture, bonnes écoutes, et, quand vous avez quelques euros à dépenser, rappelez vous que ce label est fidèle à l'underground depuis des décennies, et qu'il n'abandonnera pas la partie. Les colombiens de Solemne Mortis, originaires de Medellin où le groupe fut fondé en 2011, pratiquent un black metal mélodique, véloce, profondément épique et conquérant. Savoir que deux membres de l'excellent Goliard (cherchez ce nom sur le Scribe, vous verrez) ne nous surprendra point, tant le niveau musical est ici excellent.
Eh oui mes amis, underground ne signifie pas, loin s'en faut, incompétence musicale déguisée sous un déluge de bruit et les musiciens de Solemne Mortis font ici montre d'un talent indéniable pour nous chavirer avec des riffs mémorables, des vocaux noirs comme le charbon, une ambiance à la fois martiale et satanique. Pour autant, n'attendez pas des colombiens de faire dans le brutal pour le brutal, car les excellents musiciens et compositeurs que voici (les parties de basse et de guitares acoustiques sont fabuleuses !) sont aussi des mélomanes et savent nous régaler de mélodies somptueuses, au coeur de vraies chansons qui peuvent se chanter auprès d'un feu de bois (pour peu que l'on goûte les voix black).
"Perpetual Nonexistence" à le goût des chefs d'oeuvres nordiques des 90s, avec ce mélange de mélodies et de puissance totale, cette noirceur qui ne se contente pas d'une musique au rabais. A l'instar d'Emperor, en moins symphonique, Solemne Mortis remet la couronne du black metal en jeu, et vient rappeler à toute une génération de trous du cul qui confondent black metal et pompe à fric que le genre n'est noble que lorsqu'il garde son panache, et que l'ombre lui est familière. Si tu n'aimes pas ce disque, va mourir.
Les siciliens de Malauriu officient depuis 2013 dans un black metal raw et primitif, bien loin de la sophistication de Solemne Mortis. Ici, on retrouve des traces du black metal première époque (bathory, venom, celtic frost) mais aussi des tous débuts de la seconde vague (Darkthrone et Mayhem en tête). Cet album n'en n'est pas vraiment un, mais plutôt une compilation des différents singles que le groupe de Schizoid a sorti ça et là depuis leurs débuts, en mettant l'accent sur les titres en anglais (ici un seul titre en italien est présent, alors que le groupe en avait fait sa spécialité à ses débuts.
On trouve également deux reprises fameuses (le "Electric Wizard" de Black Sabbath et le parfaitement adapté "Sacrifice" de Bathory) qui collent comme un gant à ce gang old school et fier de l'être, sans compromis aucun. Nous voici en présence d'un fier représentant de ce black metal italien, davantage connu pour ses groupes plus symphoniques et théâtraux (Mortuary Drap et Opera IX en tête) que pour ce black bélliqueux et sale comme un peigne que pratique Malauriu. On a parfois l'agréable impression de se trouver face à la réincarnation d'un Quorthon qui serait enfin revenu à ses fondamentaux BM. L'italie joue un rôle important dans cette histoire, car n'oublions pas que Death SS, le groupe de Steve Sylvester fondé en 1977 (et toujours actif !) fait partie des parrains du black metal en étant même plus anciens que Venom ou Mercyful Fate !
Bref, si vous aimez le black qui ne cherche pas la beauté mais la noirceur, qui incarne des démons sales et puants, Malauriu est pour vous, ce black bestial saura ravir les vrais. Mort aux autres.
Le Scribe Du Rock and The Ritual Productions is already an old story. While I'll be able to announce my blog's fifth anniversary next October (unless some apocalypse between now and then thwarts my plans) this history is tied with Jasper Ruijtenbeek's Dutch label, which was the first one I collaborated with in 2017. Jasper is a man of his word, and I try to be one too. That's why this collaboration has been going on for almost five years. In this grim year (the third in a row) it's reassuring to know that some people are reliable, and don't believe the Internet nonsense of individuals who don't do anything with their skin. While I am considering the continuation of the Scribe in 2023 (I will keep you informed of my decision) given the work that this blog represents for my little person in addition to my food work, I will be able to say, in any case, that The Ritual Productions is a quality label, held by a quality man, worthy of friendship and trust. In this era where the true face of the hypocrites that surround us is revealed, where crises reveal the irremediable fractures that separate humans, I proudly carry the flag of partnership with The Ritual Productions. This time, for the 6th time, let's find two new records signed with the sadian acronym of the Dutch label: Solemne Mortis with "Perpetual Nonexistence" and Malauriu with the compilation "N.E.M.A"... So good reading, good listening, and, when you have a few euros to spend, remember that this label has been faithful to the underground for decades, and that it won't give up the game. The Colombians of Solemne Mortis, from Medellin where the band was founded in 2011, practice a melodic black metal, fast, deeply epic and conquering. Knowing that two members of the excellent Goliard (look for this name on the Scribe, you will see) will not surprise us, as the musical level here is excellent.
Yes my friends, underground does not mean, far from it, musical incompetence disguised under a deluge of noise and the musicians of Solemne Mortis show here an undeniable talent to capsize us with memorable riffs, black vocals like coal, an atmosphere at the same time martial and satanic. However, don't expect the Colombians to be brutal for the sake of being brutal, because these excellent musicians and composers (the bass and acoustic guitar parts are fabulous!) are also music lovers and know how to treat us with sumptuous melodies, in the heart of real songs that can be sung by a wood fire (as long as you like black voices).
"Perpetual Nonexistence" has the taste of the Nordic masterpieces of the 90s, with this mixture of melodies and total power, this darkness which is not satisfied with a cheap music. Like Emperor, but less symphonic, Solemne Mortis puts the black metal crown back into play, and reminds a whole generation of assholes who confuse black metal with money-making that the genre is only noble when it keeps its panache, and that the shadow is familiar to it. If you don't like this record, go die.
The Sicilians of Malauriu officiate since 2013 in a raw and primitive black metal, far from the sophistication of Solemne Mortis. Here, we find traces of the first era black metal (bathory, venom, celtic frost) but also the very beginnings of the second wave (Darkthrone and Mayhem in the lead). This album is not really an album, but rather a compilation of the different singles that the band from Schizoid has released here and there since their beginnings, with an emphasis on the English tracks (here only one track in Italian is present, while the band had made it their specialty in the beginning.
There are also two famous covers (Black Sabbath's "Electric Wizard" and Bathory's perfectly adapted "Sacrifice") that fit like a glove to this old school and proud gang, without any compromise. Here we are in the presence of a proud representative of this Italian black metal, more known for its more symphonic and theatrical bands (Mortuary Drap and Opera IX in the lead) than for this belligerent and dirty black as a comb that Malauriu practices. One has sometimes the pleasant impression to be in front of the reincarnation of a Quorthon which would have finally returned to its BM fundamentals. Italy plays an important role in this story, because let's not forget that Death SS, Steve Sylvester's band founded in 1977 (and still active!) is part of the godfathers of black metal, being even older than Venom or Mercyful Fate!
In short, if you like black metal that doesn't seek beauty but darkness, that embodies dirty and stinking demons, Malauriu is for you, this bestial black metal will delight the real ones. Death to the others.
