Interview with Kolossus, black metal from Italy, in a nordic vein - ENGLISH + FRENCH TEXT - The Ritual Productions - Satanath Records - Le Scribe du Rock

SAT278: Kolossus - The Line Of The Border (2020) by Satanath Records
Difficult to guess, listening to The Line Of The Border, Kolossus' latest album to date, that it is "driven" by an Italian! In his music, we can feel above all the influences of black metal from Scandinavia, both pagan and viking. Great fan of Enslaved, among other things, the transalpine man was not stingy with words to answer my questions. If I add to this introduction that the album was released by The Ritual Productions in partnership with Satanath Records, connoisseurs will be immediately reassured...Explanations from Helliminator....

REVIEW - FR + ENGLISH - DUTHAIG - Harlech's Sleep / Cyhyraeth - SINGLE - 2020 - SWITZERLAND

DUTHAIG BLACK METAL

DUTHAIG BLACK METAL

With this first two-track EP, here comes Duthaig, from Lausanne, Switzerland. A combo that offers a happy mix of Black Metal and Post-Black Metal with electronic elements, progressive, choruses in clear voice...

Led by AsCl3, alias David Genillard (also a member of Nigthshade or Sic Semper Tyrannis among others), with vocals, synths, programming, the Lausanne combo offers a very melodic Black Metal balanced between its influences coming from the "classical" times of the genre, as well as much more modern influences, based on more post-BM, atmospheric and cinematic passages. The electro also invites itself to the band and combines perfectly with the more abrasive sounds of the guitars. We can even feel, here and there, ambiences closer to Trip Hop or Dark Ambient. Nevertheless, when the band let the powder speak, their powerful and fairylike Black sound sticks to your guts and never lets you go.

Looking into the heretical cradle of Duthaig is to ensure the discovery of one of the most promising bands, as long as you are one of those who, among the Black Metal "fans", have an open mind on other musical currents. Duthaig proves to be absolutely convincing on these two bewitching and dreamlike tracks and we're only waiting for one thing: the next one! With, why not, an album?

Try Duthaig, you'll experience mixed feelings, varied tonalities and a rich palette of colours. If there's a future for BM, it will have to go through this type of bands who are still trying to move the machine forward! Long live Duthaig!
