Sludge/Doom/Extreme/Progressif
Prenez des membres de Gorod, Psykup, Eryn Non Dae, Zubrowska, Dimitree et Drawers, mettez tout ce beau monde dans un shaker, secouez très fort et il en résulte...Ahasver ! L'album "Causa Sui", fruit de la réunion de ces cadors de la scène française la plus exigeante musicalement ne pouvait pas être un produit pop jetable ! Et en effet, loin de l'effet "oups" du supergroupe, Ahasver se montre d'une grande unité, d'une belle cohérence, malgré une musique des plus variées...
Plusieurs choses frappent d'emblée à l'écoute dudit méfait :
1. D'abord la qualité d'ensemble des titres, qui alternent entre lourdeur doom, graisse sludge, accélérations détonnantes façon metal extrême et éléments progressifs d'une grande technicité, exprimant un grain de folie qui fait du bien aux oreilles
2. La qualité des vocaux sur ce disque ! On ne le dira jamais assez : le chant fait toute la différence ! Le chant très agressif de Nicolas Bastide (entre hardcore et thrash) vient être percuté par de superbes mélodies à plusieurs voix dignes d'Opeth ou d'Alice In Chains dans un autre style.
3. La production, fantastique, de Victor Minois, guitariste du groupe et membre des excellents Psykup sans oublier le mastering parfait de Thibault Chaumont
4. L'histoire passionnante contée sur ce disque, abordant un personnage d'écrits évangeliques apocryphes du nom d'Ahasver qui aurait refusé d'aider Jésus à porter sa croix sur la route du Golgotha. Ainsi ce dernier se serait vu condamner à ne jamais mourir et à errer sur terre pour l'éternité. Parfait thème pour un album de metal !
Bref, vous l'aurez compris tous seuls car vous êtes intelligents, cet album est une réussite totale, mélancolique, torturé, musicalement extrêmement riche, bref, pas un de ces albums à finir dans une étagère à prende la poussière. Avec "Causa Sui" Ahasver tape très fort dans la fourmilière du metal français actuel !

Take members of Gorod, Psykup, Eryn Non Dae, Zubrowska, Dimitree and Drawers, put them all in a shaker, shake hard and the result is...Ahasver! The album "Causa Sui", fruit of the meeting of these cadors of the most musically demanding French scene could not be a disposable pop product! And indeed, far from the "oops" effect of the supergroup, Ahasver shows a great unity, a beautiful coherence, in spite of a most varied music...
Several things are immediately striking when listening to this mischief:
1. First of all, the overall quality of the tracks, which alternate between heavy doom, fat sludge, explosive accelerations in an extreme metal way and progressive elements of a great technicality, expressing a grain of madness which is good for the ears
2. The quality of the vocals on this record! We can never say it enough: the vocals make all the difference! Nicolas Bastide's very aggressive vocals (somewhere between hardcore and thrash) are punctuated by superb multi-vocal melodies worthy of Opeth or Alice In Chains in another style.
3. The fantastic production of Victor Minois, guitarist of the band and member of the excellent Psykup, without forgetting the perfect mastering of Thibault Chaumont
4. The fascinating story told on this record, dealing with a character from the apocryphal evangelical writings called Ahasver who would have refused to help Jesus carry his cross on the road to Golgotha. Thus he was condemned to never die and to wander the earth for eternity. Perfect theme for a metal album!
In short, you will have understood it all by yourselves because you are intelligent, this album is a total success, melancholic, tortured, musically extremely rich, in short, not one of these albums to finish in a shelf to collect dust. With "Causa Sui" Ahasver hits the current French metal scene very hard!
