As tu des modèles, Anna ?
Quelque chose a ajouter ?
Somewhere between Doom, dark Rock, gloomy and gloomy atmospheres, Black Metal at times, the inspiration of the duo Blóð is buried. These two share their most terrible nightmares in music on a first album more than convincing. An interview with Anna and Ulrich to learn more about this entity with a bewitching universe...

"Nothing ever dies."
Hello Blóð...Welcome to the Scribe! You have just released your first album. Can you tell us a bit more about the band ?
Hi to you!
Blóð is first and foremost a duo formed by Anna and myself. I handle all the composition and instruments, and Anna sings it. From the very beginning it was a wish from us to stay as a duo and to create something really personal.
Recently we decided to integrate a bass player and a session drummer, for live performances only.
You play a very dark Doom Metal, not devoid of Sludge influences...by the way, which bands have influenced you the most ?
I think Windhand, Dolch, Shape of despair, Hangman's Chair, Chelsea Wolfe... are bands that led us to create Blóð, but there are also darker stuff like Shining and Amenra...
You are a duo, and I must say that Anna's vocals really add a plus to your melancholic and "muddy" Metal. I thought while listening to her, I thought about some bands from the 90's, Grunge or Riot Grrrls period, but also about some Punk singers. Do you have models, Anna ?
A lot of bands, singers, in different styles inspire me and have influenced me in their attitudes and singing. If I had to name some of them it would be Tairrie B. & My Ruin, Courtney Love & Hole, and especially Joan Jett and The Runaways.
What are the themes covered on the album?
The lyrics are very much focused on the afterlife, spirits, nightmares and death in general.
Morbid and frightening ...
I was amazed by the quality of this first opus. Does it all represent a long period of work, rehearsals, preparation ?
It was done over a year or so. I compose the songs and then propose them to Anna who gives me her feeling and what it inspires her as lyrics. As two and quite fusional it happens at home and without too much disagreement. We work a lot on "preprods", like a lot of bands I think, before validating at 100%.
Being a music geek I had a lot of trouble finding a combination of amps, pedals and guitars that would suit me for Blóð... I'm still in it... it's a bit of a never ending quest!
A question that, unfortunately, is becoming common in my interviews: how do you live with the current confinement? Does it affect your group?
We take it for granted and deal with it, but it has allowed us to move forward on new things. The main impacts on the band are the gigs and the lack of promotion. The dates that were planned have obviously fallen through and it's quite difficult to book future dates in this period.
Can you tell us what are your favourite albums of all time ? (any style)
It's always hard to choose, but for my part I would say "Live after Death" by Maiden, "Decade of aggression" by Slayer, "Use your illusion 1&2" by The Guns, and "Thriller" by Mr. Jackson.
Anna's would be Mr Manson's "Hollywood" and Queen's "Made In Heaven".
...But there are so many others...
If Blod were to be a quote or a proverb ?
"Nothing ever dies."
What is your vision of our world, and how do you think we will come out of the current ordeal?
We are not too surprised by the debility of mankind since the beginning of this crisis.
There are far too many of us on this planet that we are slowly destroying like parasites ...
I hope that humanity will learn from this.
Anything to add?
We have almost finished recording a new Ep, we hope to release it by the end of the year!
